Regenerative Catalytic Oxidizer (RCO) | ReCat Series
|
American Environmental Fabrication & Supply (AEFS) has several models and sizes of the ReCat Series
of catalytic thermal oxidizers, starting with the ReCat Series 50 with four models up to the ReCat Series 250.
The ReCat Systems start at 5,000 SCFM with incremental increases up to 25,000 SCFM.
Our advanced technology allows the placement of the catalyst media on top the thermal heat recovery bed
which has up to 95% heat recovery. Should your plant emissions increase or the catalytic bed foul over the
years - you may still operate by elevating operating temperatures and running as a regenerative thermal
oxidizer. This unique system allows for a better range of waste-gas and assures that you have the proper
destruction without equipment change-out and hundreds of thousands of dollars in new equipment. You may
choose to either purchase, rent or place your equipment on a long term service agreement, the benefits are
explained in many of the pages.
ReCat Series of Catalytic Thermal Oxidizers may be designed for either induced or forced draft, depending
on your requirements. Listed below is a summary of the catalytic thermal oxidizer system and subsystems. We
offer a Free Process Analysis Complete With Free RCO system proposal. If you would like to
make a visit to the plant, one of our models are usually available for inspection, testing and operation with full
run DCS/SCADA integration and control.
Regenerative catalytic oxidizers operate at substantially lower temperatures than thermal oxidizers. Due to the
presence of the catalyst, oxidation reactions can be performed at temperatures in the range of 500 to 1000°F.
Common types of catalysts include noble metals (i.e. Platinum and palladium) and ceramic materials. VOC
destruction by catalytic oxidizers usually exceeds 99%.
Catalytic oxidizers are also applicable to a wide range of VOC-laden streams; however, they cannot be used on
sources that also generate small quantities of catalyst poisons. Catalyst poisons are compounds that react
chemically in an irreversible manner with the catalyst. Common catalyst poisons include phosphorus, tin, and
zinc. Another potential operating problem associated with catalytic oxidizers is their vulnerability to chemicals
and/or particulate matter that masks or fouls the surface of the catalyst. (Masking is the reversible reaction of a
chemical with the catalyst and fouling is the coating of the catalyst with a deposited material.) If the conditions
are potentially severe, catalytic units should not be installed.
ReCat Series Model Features
