Why Use Ceramic Saddles on Thermal Oxidizer?
Regenerative Thermal Oxidizer Ceramic Saddle Topping
Ceramic Saddle Rings - The saddles are most frequently used as a protection layer for the upper
ceramic media blocks. Saddles may be used within the heat recovery chamber (HRC) entirely if the
process streams have VOC loading greater than 3.5% methane. Their dense smooth surface imparts
a high chemical resistance and provides the ceramic saddles with a very high level of stability.

Ceramic Saddle Rings are used in the
Regenerative and Catalytic thermal oxidizer acts topping
material and to adjust pressure drops. Saddles are also used to protect against damage that may
occur from large amounts of particulates and excessive burner volume applied directly to the ceramic
block media, it helps to further protect the block media from damage caused by direct burner flames.

Ceramic Saddles are commonly used as
heat transfer media in Regenerative (RTO), Regenerative
Catalytic Oxidizer (RCO) and Catalytic (CTO) Thermal Oxidizers. Saddles
act as mass transfer
media
which requires the medium to withstand a good high/low temperature resistance and/or
excellent acid-alkali resistant performance.

Ceramic Saddles are made from
chemical porcelain and have excellent resistance to acids
except in the case of hydrofluoric acid. Moisture absorption will be less than one half a percent. The
porcelain's specific gravity is 2.3-2.4g/cm3 and an average heat capacity (between
20℃, 68F and
500℃, 932F of 0.22 cal/g.℃). The softening point is 1400℃, 2552F. Ceramic Saddle have
excellent thermal shock resistance during repeated heat exchange cycling between 20℃,
68F and 820℃, 1508F. American Environmental Fabrication & Supply utilizes many of the
